MAORI The first inhabitants of New Zealand
In this interactive family exhibition, the antipodeans are central: the people who live precisely on the other side of the globe. Around 800 years ago they arrived in New Zealand and became the first inhabitants. An age-old and at the same time charismatic and dynamic people. Highlights such as beautifully worked woodwork, ornaments and clothing allow young and old to get to know the culture of the Maoris. The world famous tattoos and their meaning are of course an important element. There is also extensive information about the impressive haka, a dance combined with song and the accompanying menacing mimic, tattooed faces, protruding tongue and rolling eyes. Visitors will learn everything over the flora and fauna of the land. It is not for nothing that films such as Lord of the Rings and more recently Avatar are filmed here.
